Nothing worse than Toothache

This week, Warren had a toothache and wanted to reach for painkillers immediately. However, as the good naturalist that I am, I suggested trying a clove oil and jojoba compress first. We soaked some cotton wool in a mixture of clove essential oil and jojoba oil and placed it on the gum of the affected tooth. We applied this treatment three times a day for two days, and now Warren’s toothache has greatly improved! No painkillers were needed.

Clove oil contains eugenol, a natural anesthetic and antibacterial agent.  Eugenol helps to numb the pain and reduce inflammation in the affected area.

  • Dilute the clove oil: Mix a few drops of clove oil with a carrier oil like olive oil or jojoba oil. This helps to reduce the risk of irritation.
  • Apply to the affected area: Use a cotton ball or cotton swab to apply the diluted clove oil directly to the toothache.
  • Repeat as needed: You can repeat this process every 2-3 hours as needed for relief.
  • Rinse your mouth with warm salt water: This can help reduce inflammation and pain.

Important

  • Don’t use undiluted clove oil: This can irritate your gums and mouth.
  • Don’t swallow clove oil: It can be toxic if ingested.
  • See a dentist: Clove oil is a temporary solution for toothache pain. It’s important to see a dentist to determine the cause of your toothache and get proper treatment
